This can be risky, and is generally only done on high-level boss fights where this kind of timing is even possible. This allows them to use their best monster-hunting gear to get them down, but have their best Magic Find gear equipped for the killing blow. There are some sophisticated Magic Find farmers who will do quick equipment swaps just before the mob dies, or just before opening a container. For containers, the Magic Find math is applied when the character opens the container. Magic Find is calculated on the killing blow of a mob, not when the mob is engaged. More Magic Find doesn't make more gear, Rings, Amulets, Runes, Jewels, Gems, or Charms drop - killing more mobs makes more things drop. Magic Find only improves the chances that those armor and weapon pieces it drops are of Magical quality, and which level of Magical quality. If the particular mob's loot table includes possibilities such as 1-2 armor pieces, 1-2 weapons, 1 Jewel, and 500-1000 gold, it's still going to drop some combination of 1-2 armor pieces, 1-2 weapons, 1 Jewel, and 500-1000 gold. It only affects whether what drops is Magical. Magic Find has no effect on which base item drops. Killing more mobs is the key to Magic Find success: the more mobs you kill, the greater your take. Magic Find percentage defines the parameters, but after that it's up to chance. You could also have an amazing streak and get 2 Unique items in a row. Even if you killed 20 mobs that dropped 10 items with a 20% Magic chance, it's possible to get no Magical items at all. It's still related to the RNG (random number generator). You'd get exactly the same number of drops either way, but there's a greater chance they'll be higher quality with magic properties included.ĭrop percentage is not a guarantee. Magic find does not make more items drop, but rather improves the chance that the item that did drop will roll up as a Magical item. For example, if a dropped item has been programmed with 10% chance of being Magic quality, 5% chance of being Rare, having 100% increased Magic Find means that it will now have a 20% chance of dropping as Magic and 10% chance of being Rare. The affix "Better Chance of Getting Magic Items" increases the chance of that item being Magic, Rare, Set or Unique, based on that set chance. How Magic Find is Calculated in Diablo II: ResurrectedĪll loot items dropped from mobs or containers in D2:R have a native chance of rolling at various item rarity qualities.

That isn't how Magic Find works it's a little more complicated. A new player who sees a stat like "50% Chance of Getting Magic Items" may set up an expectation that with every mob they kill or every treasure they open, they'll guaranteed a Magical item 50% of the time. Magic Find in Diablo II: Resurrected is easily misunderstood. If an item appears Magic in blue, that's referring specifically to an item of that quality. The rest of the guide uses the term "Magical items" for items that can roll as Magic, Rare, Set, or Unique. On Magic-quality items, you'll see it in the item's name, either at the front (prefix) or back (affix). Many different types of equipment in D2:R have Magic Find, and this property stacks.

This property for "Better Chance of Getting Magic Items" is more commonly referred to as Magic Find. Magic Find Explained in Diablo II: ResurrectedĪ typical magical affix that can be found on Magic, Rare, Set, and Unique items
